PBA Seeks Distributor Participants for Its 2014 Biennial Benchmarking Survey

The Professional Beauty Association is now accepting submissions from PBA-member as well as non-member industry distributors for its upcoming 2014 Biennial Survey.

PBA conducts and publishes this one-of-a-kind Distributor Benchmarking Survey on a semi-annual and biennial basis. Distributors use the information collected to help measure their businesses against other similar ones, and many have found it to be a useful tool in making important business decisions.

Participant numbers in the surveys have steadily increased through the years, and PBA is encouraging all distributors to participate in order to provide the most comprehensive and accurate data.

"The survey is simple to complete, and the final report is designed to be a dynamic resource for independent beauty distributors," said Elizabeth Fantetti, PBA's director of membership and association programs.

The semi-annual survey includes information on five primary business sections: sales, product lines, stores, employees and education. The biennial survey additionally provides data on human resources, financials, warehouse/freight, advertising/promotion and business conditions. Providing both quantitative and qualitative data, this completely anonymous survey offers real-world information distributors need to stay successful in today’s ever-changing beauty-business environment.

The survey’s results also help distributors stay on top of industry trends and can be a good indicator of those falling out of favor.

In the most recent semi-annual survey, 79% of responding distributors reported increased sales while 62% said that they saw an increase in salon customers.

The final report of the biennial survey will be complimentary to participating distributors (as is the semi-annual survey). It will be available to PBA Individual Members for $375 and to PBA Business Members for $250. (The semi-annual survey is available to PBA Individual Members for $115 and to PBA Business Members for $75.)

The deadline to submit your company’s data is Feb. 20, 2015. If you haven’t already signed up, contact Fantetti to express your interest in participating.

All biennial-survey participants are eligible to win free tuition to PBA's 2015 Distributor Executive Conference to be held April 8-9, 2015, in Hammond, Louisiana. This event is designed as an educational opportunity for independent beauty distributors. Survey participants are also eligible to win free admission to PBA's 2015 Distributor Forum—an educational event in Las Vegas held in July 2015 during PBA Beauty Week/Cosmoprof North America.
