City of Hope Honors Kirschner With Spirit of Life Award

Harlan Kirschner, CEO of international professional-beauty manufacturers rep group The Kirschner Group, will receive the 2014 Spirit of Life Award during City of Hope's professional salon industry event July 12 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas. The event will take place in conjunction with Cosmoprof North America 2014 and the 2014 Professional Beauty Association Beauty Week.

City of Hope is a leading research, treatment and education center for cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases.

Its National Professional Salon Industry association, through which Kirschner is being awarded, consists of nationally recognized beauty-industry executives, professionals and colleagues working to sustain continuous funding support on behalf of City of Hope.

The Spirit of Life Award is the City of Hope's most prestigious philanthropic honor, presented annually to an industry leader who has demonstrated outstanding business and altruistic achievement. This year’s event is entitled “Celebrating Cures—celebrating the hope of a cure for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The event will include a hosted cocktail reception, a sit-down dinner and entertainment.

“One in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Odds are someone you know or love will be affected by cancer,” said Kirschner. “Don’t you want to be a part of finding their cure? City of Hope’s marvelous commitment to find a cure for cancer is deserving of the enthusiastic support of our entire beauty community. It is an honor to receive the Spirit of Life Award and be recognized by my peers in the beauty industry.”

Kirschner currently serves as president of City of Hope’s National Professional Salon Industry Council, a position he assumed in January 2013. He is also a board of director member for the PBA, chairman of the PBA's Manufacturer Leadership Council and treasurer for the Western Buying Conference for the last 16 years.
