Unilever Has A New Chairman of the Board

Unilever has announced that Marijn Dekkers will step down as chairman of the board with immediate effect. Dekkers, who was appointed in April 2016, made this decision so he can focus on his growing responsibilities as founder and chairman of Novalis LifeSciences, the investment and advisory firm. He will continue to serve as a non-executive director of Unilever. The board has appointed Nils Andersen to succeed Dekkers as chairman.

Transparency Expands in Fragrance Market

Transparency in beauty has reached a new milestone, as both Procter & Gamble and Unilever have announced initiatives to provide consumers with their fragrance ingredients lists down to the very scarce elements of their formulations. These initiatives help position the mega corporations as relevant and responsive to the growing consumer concern over ingredient impact on their bodies.

Unilever Acquires Dollar Shave Club

Unilever, a supplier of food, home and personal-care products, is set to purchase men’s grooming brand Dollar Shave Club. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, though Michael Dubin is expected to continue to serve as CEO of DSC.

DSC, headquartered in the Venice area of Los Angeles, California, was founded in 2012. Since inception, it has worked to transform the shaving category through its lifestyle brand, empowering 3.2 million members, and is on track to exceed $200 million in 2016.
