Beauty Industry Mourns the Loss of Jeffrey Davidson, CEO of JD Beauty and Goody

This week, the beauty industry mourns the loss of JD Beauty and Goody CEO, Jeffrey Davidson, who suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 surrounded by his family and loved ones.

“On behalf of ACON Investments, the JD Beauty and Goody board of directors, management and over 200 associates, we extend our deepest sympathies to the Davidson family,” stated a press release from JD Beauty/Goody (JDB/Goody) from earlier today.

Fun-loving, warm and hardworking with a keen business sense, Davidson was much beloved in our industry—and a highly respected leader.

Jeffrey joined JD Beauty in 2013 as chief strategy officer and was appointed CEO in July 2017. Under Davidson’s leadership, JD Beauty, whose brands include WetBrush, BioIonic and Ouidad, evolved into a global branded company and quickly became one of the fastest-growing hair beauty businesses, expanding tenfold since 2013. Most recently and notably, Davidson led the sale of JD Beauty to ACON, owners of Goody, in March 2019, and assumed the role of CEO of the combined JD Beauty and Goody companies.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic and unexpected loss,” said Gary Dailey, chief financial and operations officer of JDB/Goody and Francesca Raminella, chief commercial officer of JDB/Goody. “Jeffrey was a passionate, smart, dynamic and above all, caring leader. We will miss him not only as a business partner but as a dear and good friend. The JDB/Goody team will continue executing Jeffrey’s vision as we strive for excellence and success.”

Ken Brotman, founder and managing partner of ACON said, “We are heartbroken by Jeffrey’s passing. We truly admired him and backed him and his plans. Jeffrey was passionate about his work and he built a strong team together with Francesca and Gary who we believe will succeed in executing his vision for the combined companies. Our confidence in the future remains steadfast. We are proud to have called Jeffrey our partner and friend. We will miss him greatly.”

Creative Age Publications, publisher of Beauty Store Business and Beauty Launchpad, was a frequent partner of JD Beauty in a number of promotions. In November, 2018, Jeffrey Davidson appeared on the cover of Beauty Store Business. “Jeffrey Davidson was a good friend—and he was loved by so many in the industry. It is a huge loss for us all. We will miss him dearly. Our condolences go out to his family and colleagues at JD Beauty/Goody,” said Deborah Carver, CEO of Creative Age Publications.

Gary Dailey and Francesca Raminella will lead the company during this difficult time of transition.
