Curly-Haired Types Favor Their Texture

NaturallyCurly.com—which provides both a community and wealth of information for people with naturally-curly hair—recently asked members of its audience if they would take a pill to straighten their textured hair. Roughly 60% of respondents said no.

According to NaturallyCurly, researchers in Australia have identified a gene that is the primary cause of curly hair: trichohyalin. Researchers say the discovery could lead to a breakthrough pill which might make curly hair straighter and straight hair curlier. Although researchers knew that trichohyalin played a part in the development of the hair follicle, they only recently learned of its role in curliness.
