The March 2013 Nail Care & Polish Consumer Report from global information provider The NPD Group reveals that more than half of women over the age of 18 have purchased nail products for at-home use or professional nail services in the past year.

“The appeal and power of the nail category is both the permission to play and the accessibility in price,” says Karen Grant, vice president and global industry analyst at The NPD Group. “Even for those on a tight budget, nail products offer a relatively guilt-free treat with the power to change their options.”

Sweis Inc. has opened a professional-only beauty store in Encino, California, and plans to add more sites through the end of the year. On the independent salon-products distributor's list of more pro-only store locations are Las Vegas and Bakersfield, California, says president Karl Sweis (pictured inside the Encino store with Sormé Professional Cosmetics Group director of sales Fari Hosseinian).

The Encino store at 15605 Ventura Blvd. is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Lucky Magazine Debuts West Coast Conference

Lucky, the magazine about shopping, is debuting its FABB: Fashion and Beauty Bloggers Conference on the West Coast in Los Angeles on April 30. The event is marketed as the first blogger event of its kind, featuring what it calls an elite group of digital fashion, beauty, technology and celebrity leaders along with influential advertisers to the blogger community.
