NYX Cosmetics announced the appointment of Cristina Bartolucci—a beauty-industry veteran and co-founder of DuWop Cosmetics—as chief creative director on May 29.

Bartolucci will work alongside NYX Cosmetics founder and chief creative officer Toni K., providing leadership in product development, brand strategy and creative.

Twenty-six California-based beauty brands looking to expand internationally have been selected for a special California export initiative in conjunction with Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2013 on March 8-11 in Bologna, Italy, and Beautyworld Middle East 2013 on May 28-30 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The trade-missions initiative is being organized by the Center for International Trade Development in Long Beach, California.

NYX Cosmetics, the professional-makeup line known for offering "affordable luxury" products, has announced two new retail partnerships with Ricky's NYC and Pacific Sunwear of California. These retailers will extend NYX Cosmetics' presence in the New York marketplace and will build on the strategic partnerships NYX maintains with makeup artists and fashion brands, say company officials.

The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors’ seventh annual CITY (Cosmetic Innovator of The Year) Awards took place June 20 at the Manhattan Penthouse in New York City.

Fourteen winners were selected by a panel of industry experts who cast their votes based on innovative products, packaging, and advertising/marketing concepts from 2011.

The finalists for the Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors’ seventh annual CITY (Cosmetic Innovator of The Year) Awards were announced last week.

Unlike the Oscars most years, there isn’t a clear favorite for one CITY nominee to win really big with something—such as five of the prestigious awards.

Nevertheless, please get your ballots out, ladies and gents ...
