For the first time ever, there will be an educational session on the U.S. multicultural/ethnic market from African-American perspectives at a Cosmoprof North America. Show organizers and Beauty Store Business are presenting "The U.S. Multicultural/Ethnic Beauty Market: African-American Perspectives" roundtable at CPNA 2013 on Monday, July 15, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Bella Conference Room #1 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, which took place at the Bologna Fairgrounds in Bologna, Italy, March 8-11 closed its 2013 show with record-breaking figures: 193,842 visitors for a 14% increase with 48,823 visitors from outside of Italy for a 22% increase.

The number of exhibitors this year—2,390—was also up from 2,320 in 2012.

That figure included about 1,500 (63%) from outside of Italy as well as prominent new country pavilions from India and Colombia.

Beauty Store Business had a number of advertisers at Cosmoprof Asia 2012, which took place Nov. 14-16 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong. I also know of numerous beauty-industry executives who were there. And from all accounts on our international beauty beat, it was a great show.

George W. Schaeffer, president and CEO of OPI Products and Aloxxi International, was honored with the City of Hope's Spirit of Life Award at the beauty industry's gala dinner July 21 in Las Vegas.

The award is the City of Hope’s most prestigious philanthropic honor, presented annually to a salon-industry leader who has demonstrated outstanding business and altruistic leadership.
