Mike Spinozzi, president of Sally Beauty Supply since 2006, is retiring. The retirement plan became public when Sally Beauty Holdings reported its fiscal 2013 third-quarter results Aug. 1.

Gary Winterhalter, chairman, president and CEO of parent company Sally Beauty Holdings, addressed the retirement in the company's fiscal 2013 third quarter-results earnings conference call Aug. 1.

It was also addressed in a document filed in conjunction with the company's fiscal 2013 third-quarter results.

Salon & Pro Beauty Industry Appliances & Shears Category Grows 7.1%

Salon and professional beauty appliances and shears grew 7.1% as a category in 2012, according to the new 2012 Professional Salon & Pro Beauty Industry Appliances & Shears Study from Professional Consultants & Resources, which provides market intelligence and data research for the U.S. salon and professional-beauty industry. Note that the 7.1% growth is 18% greater than the overall salon industry’s growth rate of 6% for the same time frame.

At Beauty Systems Group, Michael F. Heines has been promoted to group vice president for full service. Heines is responsible for all full-service operations, including BSG customer service, inside sales and ecommerce-support operations.

He reports to BSG president John Golliher.

“We are pleased to announce Michael’s well-deserved promotion for our BSG team,” says Golliher. “His over 22 years of experience in the professional-beauty-supply business has given him in-depth leadership experience that will serve our team well.”
